Hello friends of LBJ and the Great Society!

We have an exciting update for you. Our friends at the much admired history podcast, Backstory, will be showcasing an episode of LBJ and the Great Society, with their audience on Friday, April 17th. Backstory is a weekly podcast that uses current events in America to take a deep dive into the past, exploring the history behind the headlines. After a distinguished, 12-year run, Backstory is retiring from the podcast field. In a display of admirable generosity and community, their team is using the last few episodes to introduce their audience to other history podcasts from around the world. We are honored and grateful to have been selected as one of the new podcasts for inclusion in this final Backstory lineup.

Backstory has selected our Episode Five -- “Give us the Ballot” -- as the installment they will be running.  Listen in here to hear a brand new introduction to the episode, featuring Backstory host and historian Ed Ayers in conversation with our series host, Melody Barnes, on why and how the story of the landmark 1965 Voting Rights Act still resonates so powerfully today.
